“Wit is the only wall between us and the dark”. Mark Van Doren
Admit it. You love wit. You love witty people as long as you are not the subject or the target of that wit. We all love to file witty comments in our memory bank. We love to recall them often and wait, for the right moment, embellish the witticism and deliver, it with the grace and speed of a Musketeer, in a meeting or party, to the acclaim of the new recipients of this precious jewel.
Edward De Bono has long stated that wit and humour are signs of high intelligence. I was born in Liverpool and we learn to laugh before we speak. You do as well. Laughing and smiling is a baby’s way of gaining attention.
Laughing has been called internal jogging. Laughing releases endorphins. It also saves you energy. You use approximately 12 muscles to smile and nearly 70 to frown.
We all love to escape. We all love to stare in wonder. We all love being entertained. We all love seeing something new.
If you, like me, love all these things, then take a few moments and enjoy the wit, humour and creativity of young Swedish artist Erik Johannsson. You will find a short 2 minute, exhilarating collection of brilliant, inspiring and witty visual comments on this incredible world of ours at www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF8jP62XVos
If you have any comments, I would love to hear from you. My name is Steve Howard. You have been reading the digital circus.
