You Could be missing out on a potential 20% growth in your Printing Market, every year.
The digital textile printing market is forecast to grow at an average annual growth rate of 20.1%, in value terms, between 2014 and 2019, according to a new market study by Smithers Pira.
A total of around 650 million square metres of fabric was printed digitally in the year to July 2014. It is estimated that total digital textile printing will rise to 1.6 billion square metres annually by 2019.
Studies have shown that digital textile printing global revenue, grew at more than 45% annually between 2004 and 2009. Since 2009, the rate of growth has slowed but on average, digital textile printing output, excluding substrate value, grew at an annual rate of 25% between 2009 and 2012. Between 2012 and 2014, the average CAGR was 19.4%.
Smithers Pira interviewed 47 companies, including 75% of ink purveyors, 50% of machine providers, together with suppliers in media manufacture and creative. Results indicated, that overall output growth (including displays) from 2013 to 2014 was around 19.4% year-on-year, compared to the average of 23% over the 2009–2012 period.
One interesting fact about Digital textile printing, is that the Added Value or Gross Profit tends to be higher than standard Large Format printing products such as PVC banners as high quality Textile printing and finishing requires a certain level of technical expertise and in some cases specialised equipment.
One way to enter the market, is to offer clients, display systems which support Textiles. There is a lot of choice both portable and fixed. My company Phi Displays. provide a superb range of banner stands and Aluminium Frames to support Textile Prints and graphics. In the past three years we have seen a tremendous increase in sales of textile display systems.
The benefits to the client are remarkable. Dye Sublimated Graphics are fade resistant. They can be pressed with an iron to remove creases. They can be dry cleaned. They can even be placed in a box or a jiffy bag, to be posted any where in the world, to an event or show. If carefully looked after, dye sublimated textile graphics can last a lifetime, like a favourite dress or T-Shirt.
